For the feeling.
Not the flight.
Why this place exists: because imagining another life for an afternoon shouldn’t require booking one.
DOPAMINE PLACE is a play atlas. Real-world places. Invented experiences. All the anticipation, none of the arrangements.
The best part is
sometimes before.
The open tab. The map dragged a little farther out. The hotel window you briefly imagine looking through. There is a particular pleasure in the moment before a trip becomes logistics.
We made a place to stay in that moment. An atlas of 100 fictional experiences you can collect without turning a passing want into a calendar commitment.
This isn’t a substitute for seeing the world. It’s permission to enjoy the thought of it. No productivity lesson. No promise of a new you. Just a small, recreational elsewhere.
A checkout.
Without the catch.
Choose an elsewhere.
Browse the Atlas, follow a Route, or borrow a Weekend. The cities exist. The experiences we describe are fiction.
Let the total get silly.
Add experiences to your haul. Display prices and crossed-out old prices are props, not offers or actual discounts.
Make a non-departure.
Complete a theatrical $0.00 checkout. No passport. No card. No airline. Nothing is booked or reserved.
Arrive in the idea.
Your fictional tracker tells a story, not a delivery estimate. It ends at “Arrived in the idea of the place.” You stay right here.
Clear answers.
No tiny type.
Is this a travel agency?
No. DOPAMINE PLACE is an interactive fiction project. We do not sell travel, arrange accommodation, issue tickets, or make reservations. Nothing in your haul is a bookable service.
Are the places real or made up?
The cities and landscapes are real. All 100 experiences are fiction: invented titles, descriptions, durations, and prices. A photograph gives you a sense of a place, not evidence of an experience being offered there.
Why show prices if nothing is for sale?
Because building an outrageous haul is part of the play. Display prices make the fantasy feel briefly tangible. They are not quotations, and crossed-out prices do not represent real savings. The amount charged is always $0.00.
What happens when I check out?
You get a fictional departure confirmation and a poetic tracker. No payment is taken, no supplier is contacted, and no trip is created. Please don’t turn up at an airport on our account.
Do I have to pay to explore?
No. The full atlas stays open, with no paywall. Any optional support is separate from the game and never unlocks a booking or an extra tier of places.
Is “dopamine” a health claim?
No. It’s a name for the little rush of possibility, not a scientific promise. This site is for play, not treatment, therapy, or advice about your mental health.
Enough explaining. Somewhere?
Take only the possibility. Leave the logistics.
